The Adventurers Look Back At 70 Years

2025 will mark the Fire Goddess’ and my 70th trip around the sun
(sail on Mr. Buffett) and we’re not slowing down.

Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s (if we want to be honest) was a blast. Each in our own way challenged the world, thinking we probably wouldn’t make it past 40. But heh… we made it. Didn’t think much about anything… we just did it.
When the Fire Goddess and I met the whirlwind continued. We camped out every full moon with our friends and families. Challenging the elements… the snakes, the spiders, the coyotes, the torrential down pours, tents being blown away, flat tires in the middle of nowhere, and I could go on and on, but I think you get the drift.
We traveled to all 50 states and enjoyed the cuisine, exploring and meeting new people.
Our careers allowed us the opportunity to see the world one continent at a time. No stone was left un-turned as we explored new regions. Well, maybe Stonehenge was left intact.
The number of places and friends we made over the years is immeasurable.
A friend once asked us early on, “If you are seeing all these places now…what are you going to do when you retire?” The Fire Goddess responded, “Well, we will just have to do it all again”. The look on his face was priceless.
The 1980’s through 2000’s came zipping through at a blink of an eye suddenly we are turning 70. SAY WHAT??
Who would have thought we would still be here living the dream. But here we are. We are not bragging by any means; we have had our ups and downs and our losses, but we often find ourselves looking back at the opportunities that we have shared together and count our blessings. Family and Friends guiding our lives and career paths along the way allowed us these opportunities to live our first 69 years fully. (You know who you are, and we thank you.)
To celebrate this auspicious anniversary, we discussed quite a few options, including overseas travel, cruises, etc., however, we kept coming back to our favorite past time and that is adventuring around the good old USA.
Our intent is to visit some new sites and a few of our favorites, and possibly a classic American roadside attraction or two. As always there’ll be tons of pictures taken, new acquaintances to be made, and hopefully a few blogs written.
We ask ourselves every now and then… “When is this old enough to know better supposed to kick in?” So far, it’s not in our 70’s!
We are currently unsupervised; we know… it scares us too. But the possibilities are endless.
The Old Guy & the Fire Goddess
Happy Birthday to Us!
